Capital City Baptist Church is a Bible-believing, independent Baptist church located in the Ellerslie area of South Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. We are a congregation committed to plain, verse-by-verse preaching from the King James Bible, the singing of traditional Christian hymns, and the proclamation of the Gospel of Jesus Christ to all who will hear.

Our doors are open every Sunday morning at 11:00 AM, Sunday evening at 6:00 PM, and Wednesday evening (time to be announced) for prayer meeting and Bible study.
What Kind of Church Is Capital City Baptist?
Capital City Baptist Church is an independent Baptist church — meaning we have no denominational affiliation, no outside board governing our decisions, and no headquarters beyond the Word of God itself. We are a local, autonomous congregation accountable to the Lord Jesus Christ and His Word alone.
We hold firmly to the historic Baptist distinctives: the Bible as the sole authority for faith and practice, salvation by grace through faith alone, believer's baptism by immersion, a regenerate church membership, congregational church government, and religious liberty for all. These convictions are not merely tradition — they are drawn directly from the pages of Scripture.
Our preaching is expository and doctrinal. Pastor Joe Newman preaches through books of the Bible, systematically explaining and applying God's Word to everyday Christian life. Services are reverent but welcoming, and the atmosphere is one of genuine worship and sincere fellowship among believers.
We use the King James Bible exclusively in all public reading, preaching, and teaching. We believe the King James Version is the preserved, authoritative Word of God in the English language, and we stand firmly upon its sufficiency for all matters of faith and practice.
Music at Capital City Baptist consists of traditional Christian hymns sung congregationally. You will hear the great songs of the faith — hymns by Charles Wesley, Fanny Crosby, Isaac Watts, and others — sung with sincerity and reverence to the Lord.
